Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Overview

BeanKupz ("we", "us", or "our") operates a community-driven coffee discovery platform that helps members find nearby cafés, explore roasters, rate drinks, and share their coffee experiences.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using BeanKupz, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name and email address so we can create and manage your account.

Content you create: Reviews, ratings, posts, photos, check-ins, saved places, and roaster suggestions you submit are stored and may be displayed publicly on the platform.

Location information: When you use the "Near Me" feature, we use your device location to show nearby cafés. We do not store your live location history.

Usage information: We log how you interact with the app (for example, pages viewed and taps) to improve performance and reliability.

Payment information: Highlight subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles all payment data securely.

How we use your information

To provide and maintain the service, including showing your contributions and personalising your experience.

To send you service-related notifications, such as when someone reviews a place you've saved.

To process highlight subscriptions and advertising requests you submit.

To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.

Sharing your information

Your public contributions (reviews, posts, ratings, check-ins) are visible to other members of the community.

We use trusted service providers such as Stripe (payments) and Google (Places data and analytics) that process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.

We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BeanKupz and our users.

Lawful basis for processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data only where we have a lawful basis under the GDPR. Our lawful bases are:

Consent — for sending marketing or launch-related emails and for processing optional location and photo data. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Contract — to provide the account and features you signed up for, including reviews, check-ins, and highlight subscriptions.

Legitimate interests — to operate and improve the platform, detect fraud and abuse, and keep our community safe.

Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.

International data transfers

BeanKupz is operated from Australia and uses service providers such as Stripe (United States) and Google (United States and other regions). When your data is transferred outside your home country, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses, and we only share the minimum data needed to run the service.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Where required by law (for example in the EU/UK), you can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time from your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep your account and contributions for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated content at any time.

Some data may be retained for longer where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can manage saved places, reviews, and posts directly within the app.

GDPR rights (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, port your data to another service, and withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

CCPA rights (California): California residents may request disclosure of the categories of personal information we collect, request deletion of their personal information, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. BeanKupz does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below.

Australian rights: Under the Privacy Act 1988, you may access and correct your personal information and make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if you believe we have mishandled it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at surajvk007@gmail.com.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (CCPA)

California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information. BeanKupz does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Where we share data with our service providers for operational purposes (such as analytics or payments), this is done under written contracts and is not a "sale" under the CCPA.

To opt out or ask questions, email us at surajvk007@gmail.com.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information using industry-standard practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Children's privacy

BeanKupz is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy in the app.
